Home made Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Hello friends, today while my son, DH and I were watching PBS Kids Sprout, and a TV commercial about chocolate covered strawberries showed up on every commercial break.  The berries looked so delicious but after hearing how much half a dozen would cost ($19.99 plus shipping),  and since I already had all the ingredients on hand, I decided to make some myself.  First, I washed and dried the fresh strawberries.  I put them in the freezer for 15 minutes.  Second,  I melted the chocolate following the instruction from the package. I used Ghirardelli premium chocolate chips for baking, bittersweet chocolate and white classic.   Then I dipped each strawberry into the melted bittersweet chocolate, covering it in a layer of chocolate almost to the top.  I let the chocolate to drip off the excess and then placed each strawberry on a tray lined with wax paper.  I put them in the fridge for 5 minutes while I was preparing the white chocolate to decorate them.  As you can see, it was very easy to do and so much fun that even my dear husband helped me to decorate some of them.  They looked very good and tasted delicious!

  3. I made these once for a friend's baby shower. They were a big hit! I just discovered your blog through pinterest projects. I see you are a card maker. I'm looking for a small vintage print of the Eiffel tower for a decoupage project. Could you do that? Would be willing to buy. If so, I'm on pinterest and twitter JTownsend2
    Thx

    1. Hi Joy, Thanks for visiting my little blog. I love to make cards and most of the die cuts I use, I cut with my Cricut Expression, which is a cartridge-based die cutting machine. I believe there is an Eiffel tower cut in the cartridge called Summer in Paris. Unfortunately, I don't own that cartridge, otherwise I would happily cut it for you. I don't do twitter, so I hope you read this response. Sorry I can't be of any help :(

  4. This is so far the best chocolate covered strawberry recipe I ever stumbled on. Thanks for sharing such stellar recipe! I always see one main ingredient in all of the blogs I've seen Ghirardelli premium chocolate chips... :)
